ZohoMail
Homepage
What is it?
It provides email services, specifically the kind ordinary users are familiar with, where you have an inbox and can manually write emails to send and receive emails.
Why did we choose it?
Data privacy, and price. We don't need a lot of email accounts, and ZohoMail is free for up to 5 accounts; if we exceeded that, the price per account is still a lot lower than the larger market players like Google and Microsoft, who charge 4-6x more with only a bit of extra functionality we don't need.
In addition, ZohoMail stores data in the EU and conforms to EU data privacy laws, so it's good from that standpoint as well.
What do we use it for?
Primarily as a place for enquiries and support emails. We don't use ZohoMail for sending out 'automated' emails like e.g. activation emails, as it isn't the right service for that. We use Amazon SES to do that; see the AWS page for details.
